modular course for mature students and those with no formal qualifications

This course is aimed at those
who wish to become a computer professional but who do not have the entrance
requirements for university. The course enables you to ‘return to
learn’ in a supportive environment. On successful completion of
the course, you may choose to progress either to the HND or Foundation
Degree in Computing or to university for an Honours Degree.

Entry Requirements
Applicants will need one of the following qualifications: • National
Certificate or Diploma in a computing discipline or related subject •
Advanced GNVQ in Computer Studies or Information Technology • At
least one A Level pass with appropriate GCSE passes at Grade ‘C’
or above in an appropriate Maths or Technology subject.
Mature applicants with
appropriate work experience will also be considered.
Foundation Degree
Web Design
This course will enable the student to construct a
web site from the basic principles up to the use of advanced features.
It will include the use of server configuration for a server/client environment.
It will give the student a good working knowledge to a variety of industry
standard software. It incorporates a 2-3 month period of work-based learning
in the second semester of Year 2.

Network Technologies
This course will enable the student to plan, design and implement local
area networks and Wide Area Networks. The students will learn how to configure
switches, Routers, and will use a variety of Networking software tools.
It incorporates a 2-3 month period of work-based learning in the second
semester of Year 2.
