INTRODUCTION AND MEMBERSHIP The powers of the Corporation are specified in the Further and Higher Education Act 1992. In general terms, the Corporation is more often referred to as the Governing Body of the College.It is responsible for the overall functioning of the College and is accountable for the quality of the service to learners and their welfare, the financial health of the College and the proper use of public funds and sound management of the College. In the light of the changes made by the Further Education and Training Act 2007 and the Charities Act 2006, from 1 January 2008 the Board will consist of: Fourteen External Members;
No determination under the 2007 Order shall terminate the appointment of any person who was a Member prior to 1 January 2008. Transitional arrangements ensure that Corporation members appointed from a date before 1 January 2008 continue in membership of the categories to which they were originally appointed until their membership ceases. Their successors must then be appointed to the membership categories determined by Corporation following the 2007 Order.
