Educational Maintenance Allowance (EMA)

This scheme is used to target students in the United Kingdom, who have just left year 11, and whose household income is low. It enables them to attend College with the help of a weekly financial award. This allowance is means tested. For more information, please contact Student Services.

Career Development Loans

If you think you want advice about a Career Development Loan to help you pay for your course, please contact the Personal Advisor at the College.

Adult Learning Grant (ALG)

This is a three-year pilot scheme in selected areas of the UK, aimed at 19+ students studying their first Level 2 course and 19-30 year olds studying their first Level 3 course. The course needs to be full-time or 150 guided learning hours per term. Students can apply to receive a weekly financial award during their time at Dunstable College. It is means tested by an independent agency and is available for students not receiving any benefits. Different amounts will be payable according to each student's income. Recipients of the scheme will still qualify for Learning Support Funds. For more information, please contact Student Services.

Learner Support Funds

The College recognises that financial hardship can be incurred by
studying at College. Through the Learning & Skills Council, we have a range of funds to which students can apply to get financial assistance. Students whose household income is low or are receiving means tested benefits are able to apply for financial help towards items such as equipment, trips, travel, exam fees, books and maintenance grants so that they are able to continue their studies.
