How to apply Once you have decided on a course at the College you will need to fill in the Application Form attached at the back of the Course Guide. You can get a Course Guide from College or contact us and we'll send one to you. An on-line version of the form will be available here soon but you can also print one from the Course Guide links on the left. Our Information Services Team is available to advise you or will make appointments with the appropriate tutors who can help you make sure the course is right for you. Most full-time courses at the College begin in September; however you can apply for courses at any time of the year. Some courses are very popular so it is best to apply as early as possible, even if you do not know your exam results at the time. What to do next Fill in the Application Form and give it to your Careers Teacher at school or send it to: Information Services, Dunstable College, Kingsway, Dunstable, Bedfordshire, LU5 4HG. This is what happens next For most part-time courses either our enrolment team or a tutor will contact you and advise you of any further requirements to be accepted on your chosen course if applicable. For most full-time courses, you will be sent a letter giving you an interview date. At the same time, we will be asking your school, College or employer for a reference. You must then accept or rearrange the interview date. Mark the date in your diary, check the bus routes and get your record of achievement or portfolio organised. The interview Don’t panic! Ask as many questions as you can, and smile! Arrive five minutes early. Bring your record of achievement if you have one. During the interview you will complete a full Enrolment Form. A conditional or unconditional place will be offered if you are successful. A conditional offer may, for example, mean that your place is dependent on you achieving certain qualifications. Sometimes, we may feel there is another course that may be more suited to you - if so, we will advise you of this and arrange a further interview. Some departments organise open days or pre-inductions. They will contact you directly, along with providing details on course start dates and times. Remember to bring your results slip with you when you enrol. Please note that recruitment to the College will take place in accordance with our Admissions Policy, a copy of which is available upon request. Exam results If you don't get the results you are aiming for, you may not be able to take the course you wanted immediately. We would hope to offer an alternative course that could prepare you for acceptance onto your first choice the following year, or for an alternative career path of your choosing. |
